Farewell GoneBackSouth!

Almost a year ago I met a wonderful new Blogging friend who goes by the name of "GoneBackSouth"
My own blog was just beginning and I had got off to a bumpy start and only had two readers...
I never knew what to write about and I was almost giving up having a blog when I got a visit from GoneBackSouth through the link on my main profile page of the Mike Leigh film "Life Is Sweet" - a great favourite of mine.

A connection was made and she saw the post that I had written at that time with the video of Annie Lennox and David Bowie singing "Under Pressure" at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
This lovely lady then wrote a post on her own blog with a link to my blog and said some very nice things about me and my writing.

Only a few hours after that I started to get so many visitors! All thanks to GoneBackSouth and she introduced me to a whole community of wonderful people, all very talented writers and truly genuine and kind people who I always doubted could exist in the virtual world!
I was also introduced to many other British expats and I was now reading many posts that I could relate to, being far from the U.K!

This week GoneBackSouth is sadly quitting her blog to concentrate on her own life and I can understand that as I too have found it hard at times to keep my blog going when I have had other things or problems to deal with.
She says that she may be back with another identity in the future, and I hope that she will, but if you don't come back GBS I want to wish you all the very best in all that you do and wish you lots of happiness, health, wealth and success in your life!

I wanted to write this post to say a big Thank You and a very sad farewell to my blogging friend GoneBackSouth.... Thank You for introducing me to many of your own blogging friends that in turn kept my blog alive and has kept me continually inspired to write new posts! I am eternally grateful.

This is the beauty of blogging: all the truly wonderful people who we meet along the way...
some we meet for just a short while, some for a long while, but everyone who we meet along the way is connected to us for a reason.
For a while we may walk along the same road, but there are times when that road becomes a junction and each person needs to take a new route, a new journey in life...

Farewell GoneBackSouth! You truly will be sorely missed! XXX

Gone Back South started blogging at about the same time as I did and I always considered her to be a great blogging buddy.
I will definitely miss her posts and sincerely hope that she does start up again in the not to distant future.
If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have "met" you!
Thanks for posting about her!

I'm a firm believer that we meet the people we are meant to meet, at the time we are meant to meet them, to learn the lessons we need to learn to evolve...Our free will comes into play with the choices we make as to how we react to each meeting...and parting. xxx

Aaah Brit ain't you a darling?! I blushed as I read that. How marvellous that someone in Brasil can make someone they've never met in England blush with their tender words. The power of blogging! Your writing style is honest and touching and you have some fascinating stuff to say. I'm glad we e-met when we did, and I'll still be reading you even if I'm not writing for a while!

But p.s. ... between you and me ... I'm already plotting and scheming my next blog identity - it's quite exciting to think about starting again with a new persona. It won't be for a while though, as I think way too much and I think very slowly.

Take care, GBS x

hi (((donnie))) love-that was a great post dedicated to gbs. i, too, came here by way of the post she mentioned you in. i thank her for that, too...i think you know how i feel about you, your blog, and your beautiful writing. but yes, i agree about being connected...it's so funny how i'll visit a total random blog, but someone from a blog i've been visiting has been there, too. like 6 degrees of separation :)

i hope gbs comes back soon, but hey, sometimes life happens.

Hi ciara!
Thanks! you too have become a dear friend through GBS!
If it wasn't for all of you I think I would have quit my own blog a long time ago...
and saying that I really must get inspired to write again, I've just been plodding along these last couple of months and haven't really written like I used to... must be 2009 getting off to a bad start!
Big Hugs ciara!! X

Lovely tribute to your blogging friend. I've read Gone Back South often and agree it's a great blog and a shame she is quitting, albeit possibly temporary. Hopefully we will get her back in the community before we have chance to miss her.

I was wondering if we'd recognise her or if she'll come clean about her next persona?
We also lost Expat Kat from The Pea Green Boat.
