8 months ago I predicted this year's Best Actress win at the Oscar's and that was many, many months before any nominations were ever announced!
I had been reading all about the filming process of "The Reader" on the internet and I just had a great feeling about it and last night my prediction came true!!
Kate Winslet: such a tremendously talented British actress, and one of my absolute favourites, has been nominated six times.
At last nights Oscar's she finally took home the gold for Best Actress in the incredible film "The Reader"!
Her speech was as wonderful and as down-to-earth as she is and it was very emotional watching her absolute joy of winning! I felt so proud watching a fellow Brit and amazing actress win!
Congratulations Kate!!! You are England's pride and joy and you deserve all the recognition you are now receiving!!!
I watched "The Reader" at the cinema when I travelled to Rio last week and it really is an amazing film with superb performances, it's a very heartbreaking film with a strong back-story.
I highly recommend it! But don't expect to leave the cinema with a smile on your face! ;)
And in case you missed it, or want to see it again, here is her wonderful Oscar acceptance speech from last night:

so great to see you back, brit! i've missed you as well my friend :) i love how kate is not pretentious...more down to earth and like 'one of us'. i think after she was done at the oscars she also went over to Marmy's blog http://marmitetoasty.blogspot.com and made a speech (oh wait...that was marmy herself-she mentioned something bout it's almost like being at the oscars lol).
She is a lovely, natural person, isn't she?
the book was great, if a book like that can be great!?
HAvent seen the film yet...not coming to our local...we never get ' great' film like this
Didn't the Brits do well? We stormed the Oscar's and don't the Americans have such superb taste! I loved Slumdog but haven't seen The Reader yet so I'll persuade himself to go to teh cinema on Friday afetr your great recommendation.
Maybe your future is in an online cinema review web page eh?
Hugs X
Clairvoyant? Well done!
With no nearby cinema, I hope it finds its way to the small screen before too long! x
I loved the way her dad whistled so that she knew where he was. That's another film I have to go see now. You recommended Grand Turino recently which has just come to our cinema.
She is great!
I haven't seen The Reader yet but soon I'll see it!
Finally she won a oscar! She's so great!
Abração Irmao! :)
Finally! I lost your link and then spotted a comment over at EPM (Toni) and could get back here! I will Follow once it loads, which it won't at work!
Anywaaaaay...yes couldn't agree more about soon to be Dame Kate! She is a wonderful actress, always just 'pops' off the big screen in everything she does.

Dear Brit, I Knew kate Winslet in her excellent performance in "Titanic"!... It was terrific!!! After this, I saw her in "Razão e sensibilidade", another great movie! By the way, congratulations to all the brits for this Oscar 2009! And thank you very much for the last visits in "de4"! The photos, I've taken in Paraty and in one of the Trindade's beach... If you haven't been there yet, you should go as soon as possible!!! You will not be disapointed! I'm sure! Hugs!
Hi Sergio!
Yes I agree... I think all her performances are wonderful and she always chooses great films to be in!
If you haven't seen the British Film (and winner of best film at the Oscars) "Slumdog Millionaire" yet run to the cinema now! It's a great film!!
I have been to Paraty! twice! and I love it there! The architecture is so beautiful and it's so wonderful that no cars are allowed inside the colonial area of the town!
Hugs!
