As 2008 is almost over and I am a fanatically obsessed film fan; bordering on crazy and spending every waking hour thinking about the films I've seen and which ones to see next, I have decided to make a list of my top 15 favourite films of the year...I highly recommend all the films on my list and if you haven't seen them yet head on down to your local Dvd store and see if they are available to rent or catch the newer ones at a cinema near you!
If you click on the title of each film you can read it's review at imdb.com
1: "Happy-Go-Lucky"
2: "Mamma Mia!"
3: "The Dark Knight"
4: "Gone Baby Gone"
5: "The Visitor"
6: "Wall.E"
7: "The Life Before Her Eyes"
8: "Burn After Reading"
9: "Brick Lane"
10: "The Jane Austen Book Club"
11: "Across The Universe"
12: "Tropa De Elite" (Elite Squad)

I saw Mama Mia and loved it. Everything about it.
Took the granddaughters to see Wall E. We all enjoyed it.
Hi Maggie,
Yeah I loved those too, and Mamma Mia is such a great happy feel-good film! I left the cinema smiling all over!
I didn't know Brick Lane had been made into a film - must check it out.
I've seen 9 of these, lol...I never saw a movie at the theater when I was working...now I find myself loving it...specially since I quit smoking and don't have to get up to go get a nicotine fix, lol! Great choices, by the way...
Sandi
Hi David,
Yes I had read the book and bought the film on Dvd - it's available on Dvd already in the U.K.
A really wonderful film and I loved it!
Hi Sandi,
Thanks! Yes I guess it must be difficult for a smoker... good to hear that you've managed to give up! well done! x
Hi Donnie!!! :D
It's nice what you did! I can't remember all the films I saw this year haha. But I'll try to take 15!
Well Mamma Mia! it's great,eh?!!! :D
And Wall.E it's a great love story with a lot of comedy!!!!
Abraçaõ and your blog it's great!!!
I watched Brick Lane a few nights ago. Simply brilliant. I will pop along and check out the revies - thanks for these. X
Hi Leo!
Yeah great films! Thanks and make your list!
Abração!
Hi MOB!
Yeah I love Brick Lane! I think it's a shame when the smaller independent films sometimes go unseen in favour of a lot of the useless blockbuster rubbish! I've always been a huge fan of the smaller films with the bigger hearts! x
i loved mamma mia. took my girls to see it. they were a little reluctant, but they loved it! haven't seen happy go lucky is that out here in the states? the dark knight was good. christian bale is by far my favorite batman. gone baby gone keeps coming on cable, but i never sit long enough to watch it (as i rarely watch t.v.)
as for the rest of the movies, i haven't seen them. my girls saw wall.e & liked it. i wanted to see burn aft reading, but my husband wasn't that interested lol loved across the universe tho sometimes i felt lost, but not as lost as my husband. he didn't even finish the movie lol
Hi Ciara!
Yes "Happy-Go-Lucky" was released there at selected cinemas in October... maybe it will be released on Dvd there in a couple of months...
"Gone Baby Gone" is a really good film! a drama about a missing child from the same writer as Clint Eastwood's "Mystic River"
I really liked it and it has an ending that makes you think...
Ahh "Burn After Reading" is a great film! You should go see that! x
Hi, Brit! I must confess that since my little son has borned, I've not gone to the movies... In fact, the last time I have been in was to see "Kung Fu Panda"... rs And this was in july!!! rs Neither the blockbuster "Tropa de Elite" I have seen yet... The question is that we almost always have a birthday party to go and, when not, we usually visit our parents. So... Hugs!
Hi Sergio!
Wow! I can't go one week without seeing a new film! haha
and I have almost 2000 films on Dvd! I'm running out of space!
You should watch some films on Dvd if you don't have time to go to the cinema! Although when you have a child most of the films you see are usually the animated ones eh?! hehe
But I bet you will be buying your son "Wall-E" when it is released on Dvd here in Brasil this week! (will be in the shops on 03/12)
Hugs!
