"Thank You" - Original Poetry By Me

For years we walked together,
Two hearts were formed as one,
We've been through happiness, joy and pain,
In the land of Samba sun.

But behind the perfect walls of love,
Something lay in wait,
Those years were all unravelling,
Within the hands of fate.

You tell me you don't want me,
And I asked you to be true,
All your years of secrets,
Never really knowing you.

So now the bond has broken,
And now my heart's my own,
Maybe you never owned it,
Maybe it was just on loan.

But I don't hold resentments,
No bitterness or tears,
Instead of regrets I'll remember,
All of our golden years.

So I thank you for the laughter,
I thank you for the pain,
And I thank you for all the love you gave,
That's left me in the rain.

How wise of you to love and let go, remembering the good times. Bitterness is a soul destroyer. I have a 'love necklace' on which I string happy memories like gems, so I end up with something priceless...that I wouldn't swap for all the tea in China! xxx

Yes I could never be bitter, no matter what, heartbroken yes but bitter no... we had too many happy years and experiences together.

Heartbreak at the end of a love affair is so very painful to endure. It's not always easy for the partner instigating the break-up either and they hurt too. Good on you for how you are coping with it. It's just the loss of future that is quite hard to bear I think. All the plans that you have are suddenly changed and that is scary. Ultimately it is also envigorating and remember that old phrase, 'feel the fear but do it anyway'!

Your poetry is just beautiful. May your heart heal soon dear Donnie and the pain of seperation dull quickly. X
