Being a huge George Michael fan this is something for me to be very excited about...
On Christmas Day George will be giving an exclusive Christmas gift to his fans: the free download of his first new Christmas song in 20 years (since Wham's "Last Christmas") called "December Song" (I Dreamed Of Christmas)
So if you go to http://www.georgemichael.com/ on the 25th December you can download the free high quality MP3 of the song.
In the meantime I am posting the advance copy of the song here for you to listen to, the lyrics are at the bottom too...
I've listened to the song many times now and it grows and grows on you. George's voice is of course beautiful and perfect as ever and he has written this song as a pure dedication of love to his Mother, who passed away from cancer in 1997, all sung with so much love and feeling.
Anyone who has followed George's life and career will identify totally with this song and all it's underlying multi-faceted meanings. He always writes songs like this; songs that on the surface seem simple enough but when you look closely at his words you see that there are many messages within those verses...
The part where he sings "Maybe since you’ve gone I went a little crazy" He's singing about how hard it has been for him since he has lost his Mum and how he has gone "off the rails" a bit with the effect of her loss.
I can totally relate to all of that and feel a pain of longing for my own Mum (who also lost her life to cancer) when I hear this song and I feel I share many similarities to things that have happened in his life.
Apart from meeting Antonio most of the 90's was pretty crap for me and I have had many years of loss and grieving, but I too am like George when he sings "But the snow that falls upon my bed, That loving I needed, Falls every single day" - meaning that now he has love every single day from his partner.
We all know that Christmas time is particularly hard for those of us that have lost parents and loved ones, Christmas time was such a special time for my Mum and she made everything so magical like nobody else ever could and every Christmas is a very sad time for me, Christmas for me is remembering my Mother's smile and joy.
George has put all his feelings into a truly beautiful and poetic song and I'm sure his Mother is smiling down and is feeling very proud of him indeed!
Enjoy this wonderful song and don't forget to get your download on Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
May your every New Year dream come true
Sweet December song
The melody that saved me
On those less than silent nights
When snow would fall upon my bed
White sugar from Jesus
And take me to the day
She could always smile
The Virgin Child would always show, you see
Just to save me (Just to save me)
There was always Christmas time
To wipe the year away
I guess that Mum and Dad decided
That the war would have to wait
There was always Christmas time
Jesus came to stay
I could believe in peace on Earth
And I could watch TV all day
So I dreamed of Christmas
Maybe since you’ve gone
I went a little crazy
God knows they can see the child
But the snow that falls upon my bed
That loving I needed
Falls every single day
For each and every child
The Virgin smiles for all to see
But you kept her from me
There was always Christmas time
To wipe the year away
I guess that Mum and Dad decided
That the war would have to wait
There was always Christmas time
Jesus came to stay
I could believe in peace on Earth
And I could watch TV all day
And so I dreamed of Christmas
Yes, I dreamed like you
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
May your every New Year dream come true

When I was almost a teenager, in birthday party of my friends, I remember that I danced a lot "Father Figure" and "Careless Whisper" in a kind of dance that we called "dança da vassoura"... rs Good times!!!... rs
A 20 or 25 years ago, these songs of him were success here in Brazil!... Hugs!
Hi Sergio,
Haha this "Dança da Vassoura" sounds intriguing... I hope it didn't involve anything painful! rsrs
I've seen George perform 4 times in concerts in London, for every tour he did, and I was also at the "Wham: The Final" concert in the summer of 1986!
Best live performances I've ever seen!
Hugs!
I just wish he would sort himself out a bit. He's going to end up getting himself killed.
That's true Expat mum...
I also think this and I hope that he gets his life together soon - you'd think he would being as he has a partner by his side.... x
It wasn't possible to get to the music. Safari wouldn't let me but I do know it anyway.
Ahh o.k. Maggie...
I've heard of many people having problems with this Safari...x
Can't say I a George Michael fan - but I appreciate his generosity - well done George!!

Hi RiverPoet,
Yes a truly beautiful song and his voice is so wonderful. I rate him as the best male singer/songwriter in the U.K.... probably anywhere actually.
It's so great that he is giving his fans this wonderful Christmas gift on his site! x
I just adore George's music and always have, Donnie...some people play an instrument and then there are those like George who are one...thanks so much for this link, I can't wait to do the download! My mother was also a fan...so I'll be listening for both of us! Hope you and Antonio have a wonderful Christmas...
hugs
Sandi
Hi Sandi!
My Mother was also a big fan after I got her hooked on his voice and music...
It's so great that he is giving this song away rather than releasing it through the normal channels.
He did say that now he will be releasing music like this to cut out the record companies and give free music to the people who still want to hear his music.
Thank you for your Christmas wishes Sandi! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas too! x
I love George Michael too. Always have. Thanks for posting this.
