"Stop The World" - Original Poetry By Me

Stop the world,
I just want to get off,
Famine is rife,
And the fumes make me cough.

Wars that are endless,
Streets of innocent blood,
Give them some peace,
Lying dead in the mud.

But what of the goodness?
I have faith it's still there,
My Grandma once said,
God is everywhere.

So where is he now?
Has he gone to the moon?
Hoping all here,
Will be over so soon?

Man opens his eyes,
With love in his heart,
He's wishing the world,
Would just press restart.

Oh Brit I adore your poetry and I have never been a poetry fan except really for W H Auden. This is a terrific piece. X

Another brilliant post!
Not God's fault though. He made the world as it is and man usually messes it up!

Lovely poem that expresses your cynisim.
Don't blame God, if he exists he gave man the ability to reason, we make our own beds and have to lie on them.

Like they say, the truth hurts...like the poetry, puts a bit of (you'll forgive the pun) rhyme and reason to it
Congratulations on the Post of the Day nomination

Thanks! and thanks for stopping by to visit me!
Yes I agree with you, it's not God's fault at all... man always manages to cause hurt, destruction and mayhem somehow... I vote for world peace, if it can be that easy!

What a lovely time I have had visiting your blog. Beautiful words in your poem. Your post about the two abandoned dogs has pulled at my heartstrings. I adore dogs too and could never have left them. You are a good person for doing what you did, those puppies will always remember you and will now have a wonderful life because they were lucky enough to find one of life's decent human beings.

I've added you to my blogroll, hope you don't mind.
